2 days between Lake Como & Venice

3 of us traveling from Lake Como to Venice by train in early October. We have two days. Any suggestions for how to make this an interesting journey? Thank you.

Define "interesting". What do you like? History, architecture, religion, food, outdoors, etc....

You could see a lot in Florence in 2 days. Verona is wonderful and compact enough to see everything in 2 days. It's not quite enough time for the Dolomites. You could check out another lake, Garda or Maggiore if that's your thing. Or maybe Ravenna with its wonderful mosaics.

I'd vote for Verona. It's a great little city and just right for 2 days.

Ditto a vote for Verona. We spent 3 nights in May. The city itself has lots of interesting things to see at a good pace. We did a 4 hour wine tour with Pagus tours from 4-6pm one afternoon, and took the train to Padua to see the Scorvengi Chapel another half day.
Florence, of course, is interesting, also, but it is more intense to see things for 2 days.

Thank you all for your great suggestions. You asked me to define interesting. That's the problem. I have a broad range of interests so getting a two day focus is a challenge. So Verona gets the most votes. What did you enjoy there? I will start my own research ASAP.
Kind Regards, JoAnn

I would suggest Ravenna or Ferrara. Verona gets more votes because it gets more visitors, and it is also a good choice, but you could stay in either Ferrara or Ravenna and daytrip to the other.

Padua is also a great city. It's closer to Venice. We liked the energy of the city, along with the markets and sights.

Both Verona & Padua are on the Milan > Venice train route, so it's very convenient to visit each one of these beautiful cities.

Ravenna, is also a great place to visit, especially if you want to witness the most amazing mosaics!
