2 day Transition/Break between Rome and Venice

We have 2 days between our sightseeing in Rome and Venice in June. I'm thinking my 10 yr old daughter and I might want a break from the city sightseeing (and possibly the heat). We could just find a hotel with a pool in the greater Rome area or stop somewhere on the way to Venice. Maybe a beach club with a pool?
I'm looking for a real break that won't involved tons of extra travel time since it would only be 2 nights. Thanks for your tips!

You go out to Rimini on the Adriatic and sit on the beach. Make reservations. It is southeast of Bologna and Ravenna.

I forgot something. If you get bored you can to the country of San Marino, a nice day trip to a little tiny country inside Italy. Beautiful place and great vistas not from from Rimini. Your ten year old will be able to talk about it the rest of her life, and you too!

Ostia beaches are close to Rome for a two night stay just head to Rome from Venice and take a regional train about 1/2 hour...it will be an easy trip back to Rome for the end of the trip.

I have not stayed here, but The Hotel Building, yes that is what it is called has a pool that actually looks bigger than a hot tub LOL and it is near the Rome Termini, not sure if there are hidden costs associated with the use as is the case in some Italian spa hotels..but you may be able to book an inclusive price...would come in very handy for a Roman summertime trip!

Enjoy!

You could stop in Orvieto and stay at the Podere Sette Piagge just outside the town with a pool. About 90 minutes north of Rome and you could walk up into town for sightseeing, and relax in the garden in the afternoons at their pool. They will pick you up at the train station. When departing, you would take a Regionale train north to Florence, where you could transfer to a high speed train onward to Venice.

I wrote a review of the hotel recently in the Hotel Reviews section for Italy.

That gives you an Umbrian hilltown experience, a visit to the magnificent Duomo, and some time relaxing too, all while keeping you on the trajectory of Rome to Venice.

It's about 4 hours by fast train from Roma Termini to Venezia Santa Lucia. The train goes through Florence and Bologna.

Later this month I'm going to do the same thing you are, except I'm going to divert to Ravenna from Bologna for 2 nights so that I have the day between to commune with the mosaics there. It's also convenient that Bologna is about 30 minutes closer to Venice than to Rome

That may not be what y'all would like, but the beach areas and little towns nearby might be. If you will be taking that potential train route or any other, do a Google maps search to explore it to pick a likely spot for your vacation from your vacation.
