I will be reaching Bolzano around 11 am and will have approximately 1.5 days before heading out early morning on day 3. What is the best itinerary for Dolomites if I am renting a car
There are a few sites that should not be missed. My top pick is Seceda. You can reach the funicular from city center in Ortisei. Another spot is Alpe di Suisi. You will need more than half a day there.
Stay in Ortisei. As it is only an hour’s drive, on arrival, you should have time to visit one place and take a hike. I would suggest Rasciesa, via funicular, as it is very straightforward to walk out to the chapel, 45 minutes one way, stop at the rifugio for a beverage or snack, and walk back. Lovely views, easy trail.
Seceda is a bit more complicated. Do you want a long hike or a short walk just to see the views? There are tons of options. Another possibility is to go up to the Alpe di Siusi via the lift at Mont Seüc and hike there. You can actually hike across the alpe to Compatsch and return to Ortisei via bus.
We will have a car. we don't want to do a lot of hiking but easy/short hikes would work for us. Basically we want to see the views
