1st Timers !(again) Last minute packing question...leave tomorrow.....

can you guys please tell us if shorts and t shirts are allowed in Colosseum, Borghese Gallery,Forum, Tivoli Gardens.(Villa D'Este), Accademia Gallery? I do understand that sleeves and long pants are required for churches and Vatican areas. Any advice would be helpful, trying to decide what to bring here....ugh (I hate to pack).... oh and also if anyone has ever eaten at Dafne in Sorrento (Hotel Aminta), looks windy up there...casual dress? light jacket you think?? Thanking you all in advance, all your advice over the last few weeks has been invaluable....

I've never seen any sign of a dress code at places like museums, and in hot weather you certainly see a lot of tourists in shorts and T-shirts.

You're all good, there's no dress code for those venues. Have the best time!! Buon viaggio! :)

Long pants not required in churches, just that your knees are covered (capris are fine). And remember, if in doubt, leave it at home!!

One word of advice: If something goes wrong, think of it as material for a story you can tell when you get back home. That helped me turn around my attitude several times when things went haywire.

Have a wonderful trip.

No restrictions in those venues.

However summer ends today and temperatures in Rome will be similar to what I am experiencing currently in the SF Bay Area, i.e. in the 70s during the day and high 50s to low 60s at night and in the early mornings, so you may want to consider some long light weight pants too. Long sleeve shirts work too at those temperatures, I can tell you because that's what I'm wearing these days around here and I don't feel hot at all.

Take a deep breath. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. You're overthinking this. Have a quiet evening, have a glass of whatever relaxes you, and smile. You're going to Italy!

Layers and more layers!!! We have been here for three weeks and it has gone from very hot in Florence to fleeces needed last night on the Amalfi coast!! Remember it is not a fashion show and dress comfortably with fabrics such as dri fit that will wash and dry quickly. We are each responsible for our own luggage so when in doubt pack light!!! Think about stairs and getting and off of trains also, the overhead on some trains are too small for a lot of bags.
