1st time 2 Italy...2-3 nights 2 play w/.Wondering what 2 Add in or Add on in areas. PLEASE HELP!

We are going to Italy in September and just booked our flights, we are going for our Anniversary
We will be in Venice 3 nights
Florence for 3 nights
**Up in the air between going somewhere between Florence and Sorrento(wanting easiest travel with time spent)
Sorrento for 4 nights-will do day trips to Amalfi, Capri, and Pompeii
Finishing in Rome for 3 nights

Should we add the nights on where we already have planned? Or is there some where easy to travel between Venice and Florence. We have been researching for MONTHS and we looked at Cinque Terre but decided to opt out.
Any suggestions would be great. We probably won't get this opportunity for years to come so we want to make the most out of our stay but also not be jumping around every time we get settled somewhere.

If you have 2 nights to allocate, I'd add an extra onto both Florence and Rome.
If you have a 3rd night to play with, then maybe a stop in Assisi en route from Florence to Sorrento.

I believe you need more time in Roma. One extra night will mean you won't be so rushed in your final destination. The other night could/should be added to Venezia if you just want to relax and enjoy your first stop and give yourselves time to adjust to Italy, or in Firenze if you are very much art and museum lovers. I would not add two nights somewhere else, rather extend time in the places you are already going.

FWIW, we are big fans of Venezia and have been there many times. Never get tired of it, and contrary to other reports, it does have affordable lodging and some great restaurants! You just have to know where to find them.

There's not much "easy-to-travel" between Florence and Sorrento. You could go to Assisi for one night (leave luggage at the train station and just take an overnight bag) and Orvieto for 2 nights.

Bologna is a good stop between Venice and Florence. It's a lovely town and an excellent base to use for easy day trips: Ferrara, Padua, Ravenna.

If you only have 2 nights to add on, I'd add one to Rome for a day trip to Orvieto, and another in Sorrento or Venice. If you have 3 nights, I'd stop in Bologna.

I would also recommend at least one more night in Rome. 3 nights/2 full days will only allow you to barely start to scratch the surface of what's to be seen here..

I would consider either adding another day to Florence, and doing a day trip to Siena. Or, stop in Orvieto for 2 nights on your way to Sorrento. Both are lovely towns.

Add them to Rome. You won't regret it. You can do an easy daytrip from there by train to Orvieto, if you decide you want a hilltop town experience. Ostia Antica is also a great option for half a day.

I agree with Michael. Other daytrips from Roma: Frascati, Castel Gandolfo, Tivoli.
