Can anyone recommend a hotel or B&B in Bologna? We will be in Italy mid-September and are stopping in Bologna to see a family friend.
We also stayed at Delle Draperie. The staff were very helpful and the location is great. But one caution: Be sure to check out the bathroom before you accept the room. They gave us one with a tiny bathtub (no shower) that was impossible to use comfortably. You couldn't sit down in the tub because there was hardware sticking out at both ends. You couldn't stand up to use the handheld shower attachment because the ceiling above the tub was angled over the tub (top floor). I ended up having to kneel in the tub (ouch!) to take a shower/bath. (And I have a fairly slim build. Heaven help the "plus-sized" guest who had to use it.)
I stayed at Abrego Centrale - very near the main square. Very nice place, large rooms, huge bathroom.
Great location. I would recommend it and I think other have mentioned in on this graffiti wall.
We've stayed twice at Albergo delle Drapperie. It's a great location - an easy bus ride from the airport or the train station. We had a comfortable stay! http://www.albergodrapperie.com/chisiamo_en.html
In 1998 I stayed at the Hotel Commercianti; my brother stayed there a few years ago. We agreed it was very nice, and the location couldn't be better (just off the main piazza). And the breakfast was quite a memorable spread, particularly for Italy - certainly more than just cornetto and coffee here! If your budget will allow it, I certainly recommend it. http://www.art-hotel-commercianti.it
Sara - We just stayed at the www.anticaresidenzadazeglio.it in Bologna for 1 night in June and loved it. Have never had more friendly or helpful innkeepers. Location is excellent for walking in town and very close to a fabulous restaurant - Al Sangiovese. Also had good air conditioning! We can't wait to go back and spend more time -
