I know Rick has a place on this website to find a travel partner and I have put up a post on there. Does anyone know of any other websites to find a traveling companion? I'm going to Italy this october and want to find someone to split expenses.

It's indeed hard for a single person to travel if they don't have family or friends interested in going. I'm sure it can be a bit lonely, with nobody to eat with or talk to. Also it's a bit dangerous, even for a man, to walk alone after dark in some places. Things cost more if only one person is paying for a room, car, etc.
I'd start by entering a Google or Yahoo search for:
find "travel companion" (include the quotation marks). Several groups come up that work to put people together for travel.
Of course you'd want to do some checking on the reputation of the site. It sounds kind of like computer dating, a bit risky but you might just find a compatible travel mate!
Another possibility, of course, is to join a group tour.
