We are planning our trip to Italy and one question is
how good or bad is the public transport in Florence?
Can we stay outside the old ton an dcan we get anywhere with Bus , subway tram?

Florence doesn't have a subway, though getting around the actual city is easy. There are buses, but Florence is actually small enough that you could walk most of it.
As for getting in to Florence, you didn't say how far outside of the center you are, that would help in knowing if there was a bus or not. Someone here will definately know.
