Has anyone heard of this or done it?
I would like to go from Genoa (or area) to Barcelona by boat.
please help!

Check out aferry.co.uk .Click on the Italian peninsula, and click on the cities of Livorno and Genoa, the two places from which ferries travel to Barcelona.
