All trains scheduled from Rome to Naples would follow a similar route, even though the express trains may use separate tracks for part of the trip. Here's a sample comparison of trains (fares are one way 2nd class standard fare): Regional 08:15-10:58 EUR 10.50, IC Plus 08:27-10:36 EUR 19.50, Eurostar AV 09:25-10:52 EUR 36.10. The 08:15 is the only regional leaving around your target time of 09:00. Go to www.trenitalia.com to check schedules - use Roma Termini and Napoli as station names. October schedules probably aren't available yet, but they'll likely be the same or very similar to current schedules.

PP, you can do that if you wish. The R train is better than half the cost of a Eurostar ride. It does take about an hour longer as the R trains stop at every stop. The ES blows right through many smaller stations without stopping. There are 50 trains a day going from Rome to Naples and another 50 going to Rome from Naples. Lots of trains. However, very few are R train runs. Most are high-speed ES or AV trains (the most expensive). What you can do is take the ICPlus trains. A bit slower and quite a bit cheaper (36.10E vs. 19.50E) as noted by Frank above.

If you want the true R train experience, you can break up your trip and go, for example, Rome to Formia (about 1/2 way) and the Formia to Naples. You'll find many more R trains departing Rome for short regional runs. No reservations required. Buy your very cheap ticket to Naples and hop off and hop on as you wish along the way. No seat guarantees eithe. Kinda like BART.
