15 days from Naples to Rome

This is our first trip to Europe. Starting in Sicily with an 8 day cycling trip. Our thoughts are to ferry to Naples and spend a few days. Then train to Florence, then Venice and fly home from Rome.

We don’t want to spend all our time in museums and want time to take in the scenery at a somewhat slower pace. Wondering how many days we should plan for each stay.

Hi Jodi; a warm welcome again to the forum!
I deleted my previous reply as I misread the amount of time you're working with; the 8-day Sicily bike trip doesn't count in the 15 days. My apologies. :O)

So question? How many nights on the ground in Italy will you have once you depart Sicily, and what time of year are you looking to do this trip? By 'take in the scenery' do you mean hiking or mostly hoofing around the historic cities on your list? Are you OK with at least some museums and historical sites?

Thanks for the reply! We will be in Sicily riding bikes from Oct 13-20 and then ferry to Naples the evening of the 20th putting is Naples the 21st. Our flight from Rome is November 5th.
We do want to see museums, yes! Just don’t want to be spending all our time indoors. There is so much to do but know we can’t fit it all in this time around.

Would probably save time and money to just fly to Venice from Sicily and work your way south
