Arriving for the Italy portion of the trip from Paris on June 14th early morning:
Venice (2 nights)
Florence (5 nights) - daytrip to CT, daytrip(s) exploring Tuscany
Capri (3 nights)
Rome (4 nights)
Is this itinerary a bit too much? Originally had planned to stay in CT for 2 nights, but ghastly afraid that the June crowds during the day may hinder the experience just for those better 4-6 hours in the evening. Not too interested in the hiking either, so ended up deciding that a tour from walkaboutflorence may suffice just for the views. Instead added in a trip just to Capri (via fast train to naples+ferry) to enjoy the island for a few days which we figure may have a few more options to do than in CT. Also, bounded using public transportation only so renting a car isn't an option. Wondering if anyone could provide a critique and alternate suggestions to consider?
We're 2 mid 20s travelling relatively light so walking around with luggage isn't too big of a concern. Main thoughts right now are:
1) Is basing in Sorrento and splitting the two full days we have to Capri/Positano worth considering? Afraid that the 3 nights is far too little time plus the travel time everyday may compound to a very rushed feeling.
2) Ideally if we didn't go to Capri, we'd bump Florence back to 6 nights (net 3 days when subtracting side trips) and have 2 extra days to play with. Not really sure what to do with those extra 2 days (More time in Venice? 1 or 2 nights in Verona/Orvieto/Siena?)
3) Any day trips from Rome worth considering that we could do if more nights are added?
Appreciate any feedback!
