We are spending 7 nites in Tuscany (the last 2 or 3 in Florence). Any recommendations for two other locations in Tuscany - I know everything is relatively close so perhaps only one other location would work also. Thoughts?
Sienna
Will you have a car?
Yes that is the plan; however if public transportation works well we will consider this as well. 4 adults.
Steve, we spent two nights in Siena at the Borgo Grondale, a delightful hotel just outside the walls of Siena. It has great grounds and an outdoor pool built into a hill that looks into Siena - WOW! It's a little hard to find, but what a find - The address is Via delle Grondale, 15. Siena is a wonderfuk town to explore, especially if they are preparing for the Palio! (I think we had to book this on Travelocity after reading about it on tripadvisor.com).
I would also suggest Lucca - another walled city - 40 miles west from Florence and about 10 miles from Pisa. Spending the night in Lucca is wonderful as all the "day-trippers" leave and you have the city to yourself. We had a delightful time exploring Lucca - food and music were great! Despite what you read, stay at a hotel inside the walls of the city (Just verify parking arrangements!). Have fun!
