Would really like to see Plitivice Lakes, however adds 2 days travel to a 9 day stay in Croatia, is it worth it? We plan on hiking both the upper and lower lakes.

We visited Plitvice in August 2005 and loved it. It was overcast and rainy during our visit and it was still beautiful and absolutely worth it. The lower lakes were crowded with tourists but the upper lakes area was very peaceful and serene.

Definitely agree. It was gorgeous. We knew it would be great but it even exceeded our expectations (this past September). It rained the entire time we were there (the only time on our Croatia trip!) but was still worth it.
It can be done in one day.
