13 Nights in Italy - Suggetions

Three adults flying in and out of Milan in April 2016. Venice is a must see but only need two nights as this will be a return trip to that city.

Would love to include Genoa, Milan, Turin and either Lake Como or Lake Garda in the mix but realize that changing hotels too often is never a great idea.

Seems the hotel rooms in Turin are much cheaper than in Milan so that is a consideration. Trying to budget perhaps 150 Euros or less per night for a room for the three of us and we will be doing all of our travels by train, and for those trips, I will make reservations as needed ahead of time.

Skipping Florence as we were there the last time.

Would love to return for even one day to Vernazza if at all possible.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks Paul

Rooms in Milano are high because of the Expo this year. You might try somewhere near Milano (Bergamo is an hour away, the city of Como is about the same distance) and daytrip into Milano. Either would give you a break from bigger cities.

If you plan to stay in Genova for a few nights, you could get to Vernazza, or stay in Rapallo (roughl between the two.

Thirteen nights: 3 outside Milano, 3 Torino, 3 Genova, 3 Lago di Como or Garda, add one night to any of these and/or swap out Genova for Rapallo and spend the night in Vernazza.

If you want to do Vernazza, put it in for a couple of days. You might try Bologna, Modena, or Parma for a stop on the way from Venice. Genoa is on the way from Vernazza to Milan. You just might try Varenna or Stresa for the lakes. You can extend your stay and take the train into Milan for day trips from there. Stresa is relatively close to Malpensa, about the same distance as from central Milan.
