My daughter and I are going to Venice and would also like to visit another spot in Italy.
I had my heart set on Sardinia but I'm concerned it may be too much travel for a 7-10 day trip.
Any suggestions?

If you are dead set on Sardinia you could fly from VCE to OLB with Meridiana or with Volotea.
However have you visited all the rest of Italy already? If not there are a lot of places near Venice that are worth a mass: Dolomites alps, Lake Garda, Valpolicella and beautiful cities like Verona, Padua, Vicenza, Ravenna etc. I'm sure you can find enough even just in the North East of Italy to keep you busy for several weeks, before venturing to places you need to fly to for over one hour on the air.
