12 days in Sicily and Santorini in early June

Hi,

We are trying to go to the east side of Sicily and then Santorini next June.
Trying to figure out how to book flights! We will be flying out from LA.

Maybe LA - Rome - Catania - Rome - Santorini - Athens - LA?
Or, just LA - Rome round trip, and use Easyjet to get to those two islands?
Any suggestions?

And, does anyone know any good cooking tour/day class in Sicily?

Thanks a lot in advance!!!

If you can insert a visit to Palermo (the beautiful Sicily's Regional capital) in your Sicily's stay, Volotea (a Spanish low cost airline) flies directly from Palermo to Santorini in Summer, not sure if as early as June. Check with Volotea.

The East Side of Sicily is spectacular! I've been several times, and can't wait to return. The food in this
region is unsurpassed! The tiny clams are so sweet, the eggplant, tomatoes, grapes -- I could go on and on,
and have even asked an older person, 'why did anyone ever leave here?' Answer, the War (II) and no jobs.

Whatever you decide to do, do not miss a trip to Mt. Etna! There's a fantastic vineyard in this area that is also beautiful, with wine tastings with heavy appetizers (can't spell horsdeuvres!) (Vino Gambino) I've taken two groups of friends there both times I visited the Eastern side. Everyone loved this beautiful Vineyard and wonderful family that runs it.

There are many Greek Ruins sites on the Eastern side, including the beautiful Greek Theatre which is in Taormina (a great place to 'base' yourself in for the Eastern side. Also Syracuse! Amazing City. When we took our first trip to Sicily, I very luckily stumbled upon "legendofsicily.com" and they rent apartments, bed and
breakfast places, have a wonderful grasp of the city since they're all locals and also do
tours. I was not in the least disappointed either time. I very much appreciated the restaurant
recommendations for the beautiful little city of Taormina. Highly recommend.

Julie, check all permutations/flight options. Don't forget to not just check into and out of Rome, but do an "open Jaw/multi destination" check; into Rome and out of Athens. Then use a site like Skyscanner to check out all of the lo-cost inter EU flights/airlines.

BTW we found flights into and out of Munich, and some other German cites that went directly to Santorini, etc.

We usually start by looking for a good direct flight "over the pond" and then use Skyscanner to check out all of the lo-cost inter EU flights. (being mindful of the luggage restrictions of the EU airlines.
