anyone traveled this journey ??? we are doing it at the end of march but not sure how we want get from siena to sorrento, bus , train or car ??? trying to find most economical we have one day to get there. all suggestions are welcome :):):)
I think you're best bet is the train, but you'll have several transfers. A one way trip by car or bus is impractical. You can look at train schedules on www.trenitalia.it The quickist route looks to be taking the train from Siena to Chiusa, then to Rome and then to Naples. It's about 5 1/2 hours. In Naples you'd take the Circumvesuvia, a commuter train, to Sorrento - about another hour.
no question train it. a car is not necessary and can be bothersome around naples and south. once in SOrrento bus around or ferry to the amalfi coast and Capri.
