Thanks! I am so excited. When I come back I'll have something more to add on the Bologna area. I'll be a resource!

Have a wonderful trip! Be sure to hang out in St Mark's Square after dinner to listen to the bands play! Get a table at one of the restaurants in the Square, order dessert and coffee (or after dinner drink!) and soak it all in! Venice is a magical place!!

Thanks, Wanda. We plan to do just that AND we are trying to get up to watch the sun rise over St. Mark's. That is going to be one short night.

Tons of pictures is definitely on the docket. We bought these plane tickets back in January! I cannot believe the trip is finally here. On Sunday, hopefully, I'll be in the Hippodrome having some brews and enjoying Oktoberfest and then Tuesday night I'll be having a drink in San Marcos square. I am so beyond blessed that I am going to explode!!!!

Yes! I know that everyone has either been or will be going. Everyone knows that feeling of being 24 hours out from your flight. The anxiety about will I bee able to leave work on time? Did I pack everything? Will the inmates burn down the asylum while I'm gone? Do I have our itinerary? And then the excitement - IN 30 SOME ODD HOURS I WILL BE IN MUNICH!!!! I leave you with the words of Mark Twain: Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.

Hubby and I have 5 days til our trip to California and I'm starting to get happy butterflies. The great thing about going this time of year - it won't be too short a night - it'll get dark by 8pm, and sunrise prob won't hit til 6:30-7...one of the best things we did was get up at 6:15am last year when we went to Venice and went out til about 8am (then went back to B&B for breakfast)...even my morning-adverse hubby thanked me for making him get up...the lack of people is refreshing! Make sure to go to Rialto and San Marco...and go stand on the bridge facing the Bridge of Sighs - no jostling elbows or luggage toting travelers to contend with....

Nicole,
Thanks for the tips! I meant short for sleeping. I feel like we'll be out and about until midnight and then probably be back up at 6. In my younger days, I did that without thinking. Now? Not so much. It's 9:47 and I already feel like I need to get to bed. Enjoy California. I love my state.

Sheron, 3 weeks? I'm envious. I am taking 6 days off work and you would think that I was going on sabbatical. I've been to Rome before so I am very excited about seeing Venice and Bologna. Oh, and the food tour. I love the idea of a tour that is centered around food....cheese, prosciutto, and balsamic vinegar. Yum.

I know Venice is amazing at night, but even hubby and I were back at out rooms by 10pm...you can only wander so long (tho it can feel like forever). We did Bologna as well, but due to a train snafu, we arrived at 10pm instead of 6, then only had about 4-5 hrs the next morning before we had to get to Venice (this was 2008). Enjoy your trip...even having been to Venice 3 times, I still want to return. Looking forward to Cali, put in an order for mild sunny days for us!
