car travel in Sicily

We are visiting Sicily on a RS tour in October and will extend our trip by car rental an additional 10 days to go southeast from Palermo down and around the coast to Selinunte. Any suggestions for a car rental company?
Thanks, Kay

Since you are signed up for a RS tour you may or may not know that you can go into his headquarters for a "travel consultation" at a discounted price.
I take advantage of that every year for the last 11 trips but I do not know if they would recommend a specific car rental agency. Good luck

Hi Kay, You're fortunate to live so close to Europe through the Back Door office. A great resource with a great library. On our last trip to Italy 2012, we used gemut.com (in Oregon) to book our car rentals. They shopped for the best price and for mainland Italy it was Hertz and for Sicily it was Europcar. They have a great website with driving hints and you can call and talk to Andy in person. All our arrangements were exactly as reserved. We had booked a manual, diesel vehicle and that's exactly what we got. Driving was very easy although we dropped our car at the Palermo airport and took the train into Palermo. Hope that this helps. You really should rent your car stateside as it is much less expensive and you know what you have paid for. Have a wonderful trip.
