11 day tour in sicily

Quick question regarding the 11 day tour in sicily -- given that we are going to be hiking around at various sites, should i take some comfortable hiking shoes? I have some more city type sneakers (mesh and lighter color), but if we are hiking around in a bunch of dirt etc, they might not fare as well. Was maybe thinking about having an in town pair, and a hiking in the hills pair.

If the sneakers are running or cross training type shoes they should work just fine, if they fit well. If they are slip-ons, or if your foot slides around in them, I’d get a comfortable pair of well fitting hiking shoes. From looking at the tour most of the places are fairly level except Taormina and Mt. Etna.

There are a number of places on the Sicily tour with uneven/dusty walkways. I'm a bit of a klutz and was really happy to have my trekking poles. Certainly not necessary, but our guide mentioned to me that she might recommend them.

Note #5 on the PHYSICAL DEMANDS section of the tour page.

Awesome thanks — also should have clarified that I was wondering how dusty/dirty as I didn’t want to trash some of my nicer lighter colored sneakers with ton of dirt.

I brought my Brooks walking/running shoes and a pair of white leather sneakers (Aetrex but similar to Addidas Stan Smith) and both have been great. I’ll probably wash the laces and wipe down the white leather but then they’ll be good to go. I’m in the senior category age-wise and just finishing this tour.
