I am traveling to italy for 10 days and will be taking the train and driving for 2 days. Do I need to purchase my rail tickets before hand or can I get them at the rail station the day of travel. Our itinerary is set except for travel specific train times.
The ONLY reason to buy in advance is for the discount the might be available. You can easily buy the day of but will not the base fare which is very reasonable in Italy. The advance purchase tickets do offer some very deep discount but you are locked into that schedule and refunds or changes are very limited (if available) and depends on the type of discount ticket purchased.
