Lugano?

Christy, Yes, Lugano is in Switzerland and it's an easy day trip. As I recall, the trip by train is only about an hour each way. While there you could explore the town, take a short boat cruise to the lakeside communities such as Gandria, take the San Salvatore Funicular or spend some time in the Casino. A couple of other locations you could consider are: > Locarno (CH) - a beautiful and somewhat posh city on Lago Maggiore. While there you could have a look at the impressive Madonna del Sasso Franciscan Monastery, take a Cable Car ride to Cardada for incredible views of the lake, city and surrounding scenery, spend some time in the Casino or just window shop and enjoy the local Cafés. One store that I always enjoy doing some "window shopping" is the Bucherer Jewelry store. It's nice to dream about putting CHF 10,000 on the counter and buy a Rolex watch or Vertu Cellphone, but on my budget that's never going to happen. > Stresa - also a beautiful spot. While there you could tour a few of the islands owned by the Borromeo Princes (especially Isola Bella), take the Cable Car to Mt. Mottarone (incredible views) or just enjoy the town. Happy travels!
