My wife and I are flying into Rome at the end of the month with our 5 month old twins. Spur of the moment so loose plan was 3/4 days in Rome and the rest on a beach. Looking for advice on places to stay in Rome and a suggestions on great beaches (leaning Amalfi coast). We'll be stroller and backbacking with the kids and need a home base in Rome and elsewhere for daytime naps for the grommets.
A great neighborhood in Rome is the area around the Pantheon/Piazza Navona. There are lots of apartments for rent and many that offer stays under the 7 day minimum. Slow Travel is a good website for specific recomendations and lots of places offer a "last minute" discount which may apply since you're leaving soon. We stayed near Campo de Fiori when our children were younger and though it was very colorful, it is also very noisy. The Amalfi Coast is spectacular and easy to get to (at least Sorrento) by train, but not sure about beach access there. Have heard that the island of Ischia is beautiful and very laid back. Buona Fortuna and safe travels with the bambini!
