We are 2 senior couples spending 3 nights near pienza then driving to Castello di Monterone between Perugia and Assisi for 2 nights.
Where to stop for lunch on our way to the Castello? A cute town? A winery? Lakeside restaurant?
We are staying at the Castello because it's a CASTLE! And one gent has a special interest in knights Templar and I understand there is some connection. We prob will have dinner at the Castello one night.
Any places very close by that we can have dinner the next night. Looking for casual and local. Pizzerie or osteria type place.
On our full day, we would like to combine assist and maybe spello. Which should we do first and where to eat lunch?
Next day we move to Orvieto. Where to stop on the way?
My husband and I have been to Italy and Umbria several times. But are happy to revisit every place. Our friends have never been. Their interests are wine, truffles, nature, vistas, short hikes, history, Knights Templar, etruscans, excavations.
