1/2 or full day trip to Siena from Florence?

My husband and I will be in Florence for two days in July at the end of an 8-day trip (Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence). Is it worth spending a half day in Siena? We would like to get out to see the Tuscan countryside and have found a nice looking small-group winery tour for Saturday afternoon. I've heard Siena is great, but adding it on top of winery tours would likely require a full day tour and would cut down on our time to see things in Florence. Thanks!

Siena is a lovely, picturesque town with an amazing town square, a beautiful duomo, etc. It's up to you whether it's "worth it" or not to spend the time there vs. a winery tour. I loved Siena myself. For you, maybe the winery tour would be more enjoyable.

Siena plus the tour of Chianti area is doable (do Siena first in the morning so you do the drinking in the afternoon)

Whether that cuts too much into Florence or not depends on your personal preference and the total time you have for Florence. Florence needs, at the very least, one full day from dawn to bed time (a couple of days it is better however).

I would go for it. You could take an early bus to Siena, catch a winery tour from Siena ( I see with a quick on-line search that there's one from 2-7pm) and return after dinner.

I vote yes to Sienna. We did this plus a wine tour. One of the most awesome meat / cheese shops.
