We have booked the 15 day Grand Tour of Italy with Alba Tours in May 2013. We will be spending our 1st 2 days in Rome. We have the Sunday free until dinner time and then Monday morning we have a 1/2 Rome City Tour which includes inside St. Peter's Basilica. Can anyone give us an idea of what else this tour will include? We want to maximize our time and rather not visit places on Sunday if we will them on Monday.

This is from their website: http://www.albatours.com/content.asp?page=132876 You do realize that other than the basilica you'll be seeing the other sites from the inside of a motor coach? Seems like kind of a waste to me. I would ditch the tour after the basilica and explore on your own. Donna

Thanks we have considered this possibility. Hopefully the Basilica will be at the beginning and we can skip the rest of it and see what we want.

If you find out that the basilica is not at the front of the tour you can ditch the tour and still visit the basilica. It's free to enter. All you do is wait in the security line and then go in. Be sure to dress properly or you can be denied entry. Donna
