What not to miss food and beverage wise in San Gimignano and Siena

Doing a day tour with Get Your Guide and wondered if anyone had recommendations for NOT TO MISS food and beverage spots also sights. Obviously limited time in both places but we love food and wine. Thank you in advance

Visit Panzano. Dario restaurant. I do not know the name, but we had a great meal. It has changed since we were there, but you should try it. I believe the name of the restaurant is Solociccia.

It will not be cheap or elegant, but good food.

Stop at Bar IL Palio in Siena on the Piaazza del Campo. We've not eaten there but we always have drinks outside and enjoy the view. Plus they serve chips with your cocktails and wine!

Hi, I don’t have a specific restaurant to suggest since it’s been many years since we were at San Gimignano & Siena (although I travel yearly to Italy), but I have a great story. My husband & I were at SG as a extended lunch stop during the 17-day RS Best of Italy tour. We stopped at outdoor tables at a restaurant there in the piazza with the fountain. I ordered & then my husband ordered from the menu. The older lady shook her head about his order and said, “No, you want ….and named something else” while walking off. We looked at each other & laughed. And, his meal was excellent!

The reason I mention this is that if you can get away from the tourist restaurants, be sure to ask what are the local dishes they recommend. I have never been steered wrong, plus they appreciate that you care about their regional cuisine which varies from city to city.

I don't have a specific restaurant suggestion, but the wild boar salami sandwich I ate in San Gimignano was the best sandwich I've had in my whole life. There are many shops/delis that sell them. It was simple (meat, bread, maybe olive oil?) but so fresh and delicious, eaten sitting on the wall looking at the Tuscan countryside.

If you like gelato, try Gelateria Dondoli in San Gimignano. They claim they are one of the best in the world, but in Italy, those are fighting words!
