What are the best restaurants in the Marciano della chiana, Italy area?

My wife and I will be staying at the Villa Fontelunga in Pozzo della Chiana for our anniversary and wonder if anyone knows of good Italian restaurants in the area where we could celebrate?

Hello, we live just down the road from Pozzo. It is a small hill top town. Is the villa right in town or in the surrounding countryside? Depending on the time when you will be visiting there are a number of great choices. There is one in Marciano maybe a 10 minute drive away, I'll have to look up the name. In Lucignano about 15 minutes away there are a number of places, for a special meal, Il Goccino would be my first choice. It is very upscale, 'nouveau' Italian but using very fresh, traditional ingredients La Maggiolata is also good, a little more traditional. Across the valley in Cortona (30 minute drive) are a number of choices, including a Michelin starred place. A good place for a fun lunch is on the main road after coming down from Pozzo going towards Arezzo is the Menchetti bakery. And if you are here in the summer the local festas and sagras are great fun. I am more than happy to help you with more ideas or send you to my blog if you email me. We have only eaten once in Marciano and the meal was arranged for a party and I don't remember the name of the place. If you want to check my blog I have a number of local restaurants listed. friendsandfamilyinitaly.wordpress.com. Use the restaurant filter. have a wonderful trip.
