This hotel is located within a stones throw above the Varenna train station. But dispite the inevitable train noise, we really liked this place. It really didn't bother us, perhaps we slept well due to lots of hiking around during the day. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the lake and the hotel was very close walking distance to town. On the first night we arrived in the rain and hungry. We walked about 5 minutes and found the outdoor seating under the awning of the Hotel Oliveda. Our first meal in Italy and we loved every minute of it. Varenna is great but small so I recommend taking the tourist boat and seeing other parts of this incredibly beautiful area!
