We were very pleased with Hotel Pensione Guerrato in Venice. This hotel, near the Mercato stop for the Number 1 Vaporetto, is recommended by Rick Steves and his tour groups stay here. We were on the third floor as there was a Rick Steves tour. This central location near the market in the 800 year old building made us feel like we really in Venice. We had a most beautiful Murano chandler in our large room. I had never wanted to look at the ceiling of a hotel room before. The breakfast was plentiful. We were very glad we stayed there.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I've stayed here myself several times and it never disappoints. It's been in Rick's Guidebook for quite a few years and has had many good reviews from folks such as yourself.

Your post reminded me of our last trip to Venice. Our hotel room had a beautiful Murano chandelier, also, and I took a few pictures of it to remember. : )

I've stayed there before and was very happy there. I have reservations there for next May, but I'm hoping to find an apartment with a washer instead.

We stayed there in 2011 and would also go back in a flash. We had to carry our bags up to the top floor but our room was huge and very comfortable. The location was perfect.

Pensione Guerrato offers some apartments with a washer. We are staying in one right now, the Carampane apartment. Love it!

We just reserved one of their apartments for four nights in May, 2016. Definitely contact them and ask about apartments.. The apartments don't include the breakfast, but we feel we can count on it being well run since check in is handled at the hotel.
