Review of hotel Rialto or others you have stayed at.
In Venice the canals serve as roads. The Grand Csnsl is the busiest. We stayed on it on our first trip to Venice, never again. We couldn’t sleep due to the noise on the Grand Canal, vsporettos crashing into docks, etc. Since then we have stayed on or near small interior canals.
Thank you for your response and insights on staying in Venice.
We stayed at the NH Collection Venezia Palazzo Barocci, right on the Grand Canal and it was very nice. Our room did NOT overlook the canal, but rather a lovely courtyard of the building behind. It was actually very quiet, and very convenient as there is a vaporetto stop just steps away. Service was excellent!
Thank you for this information.
Last year we stayed at Hotel al Ponte Mocenigo. The location is wonderful--- steps away from the San Stae vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal. It is not right on the Grand Canal and in a quiet area of Venice- about 1/2 way between the train station and the Rialto Bridge. It is a charming hotel with a lovely courtyard where you can choose to have breakfast, or eat inside if you choose. The room we stayed in had everything you could ever want in a hotel room. It truly was the standard that we measured al the other hotels in which we stayed on our trip. I would highly recommend it.
Thank you, I will check this hotel.
Another strong recommendation for the Hotel al Ponte Mocenigo. We stayed there several years ago and have booked a second stay for this coming October 2019. It is restful and but a few steps from the San Stae vaporetto stop. We loved the terrace breakfast and neighborhood feel. Hop on the vaporetto and you can be plunged into the frenetic activity of San Marco; you’ll be glad to return to this hotel.
