Venice B&B before cruise

Planning to take a cruise from Venice in early October, 2015. Any recommendations for a good B&B we could stay at for a couple of night prior to the cruise? What's the easiest way to get from town to the area where the cruise ships are docked?

If you will use the search box above for the term "Venice Cruise" you'll find the local transport issue described frequently in this Travel Forum. To help with your trip plan, I also suggest Rick's guidebooks for either Italy or Mediterranean Cruise Ports, whichever covers more of your destinations.

I have not stayed in a B&B but I had a good experience with a Monastery stays property that was about 10-15 mins walk to St Marks Square and less than 5 mins walk to a water bus. I had a large private room with a large bathroom, a great buffet breakfast in a dining room. Wi-fi was available, for a very small price. There are a number of properties in Venice; I searched the details to find what suited me, close enough to tourist activities, with Wi-fi and breakfast.

Just an idea if you want to consider another option. If you are intersted in the exact location, pm me and I can look back at my references. I stayed there about 4 years ago.

We stayed in a small hotel in Venice, in Canarreggio twice and really liked it. It is right on the Canarreggio Canal and the front rooms look onto the quiet canal. The owners and other workers are very friendly and helpful. The hotel was exceedingly clean and confortable. It's an easy walk to the train station and there is a vaporetto stop almost right in front of the hotel. The interior rooms don't have a view so we sprang for the jr. suite with a canal view. It was huge with a large bathroom, had a king size bed, mini fridge, 3 windows to the canal and a sofa sleeper.

The name of the hotel is Ca Dogaressa.

We would stay there again without hesitation.

Have a great trip.

Many (most?) hotels in Venice include breakfast in the room charge. Looking for a B&B isn't necessary. You might look at the details concerning the breakfast, if that matters to you. I have learned to rely on booking.com for reliable references for hotels. If you have extra luggage, as many "cruisers" have, you may want to look for a hotel easy to reach from a vaporetto (bus boat) stop.

We have stayed at Pensione Guerrato near the Rialto Bridge. Very comfortable, clean, and great breakfast. We will be there again in May. Make reservations as early as possible. They fill up quickly. Enjoy the cruise....and Venice

We have also stayed at Pensione Guerrato near the Rialto Bridge a number of times and will stay there again. Book as soon as you can because they sell out fast. TC

We stayed at Hotel Anastassia, which I would highly recommend. Wonderful breakfast served in the sister hotel next door. It is conveniently located right off the Grand Canal, and a couple minute walk from St .Mark's Square. Service was great, and our room was clean and comfortable.
