Is it possible to walk from the Venice airport to the train station as we will be heading directly to Verona.
Are you thinking of the Mestre station, on the mainland, as opposed to the Santa Lucia station, on the island? The Mestre station does have trains to Verona, but you would need to take the #5 bus to get to it (or a taxi).
google maps shows it is 6 miles ( 10km) from VCE to Mestre train station; so yes it is possible to walk, if you have the time.
The Santa Lucia is even farther.
There is no train station at the Venice Marco Polo Airport. There is express bus service from there to the Mestre train station, from which you can take the train to Verona. Take the ATVO bus from Marco Polo airport. You can buy tickets from a kiosk or a machine at the airport for 8 euros. Buses run often. The bus ride takes about 17 minutes.

I think it would be kind of scary to walk - very busy road with no sidewalks for a lot of it.
I’m assuming there would also be a bus available to the Venice Santa Lucia train station.
No, there is not a direct bus from the airport to Venice Santa Lucia train station. Cars and busses cannot access that train station, only boats and pedestrians. There is a bus from the airport to Venice to Piazzale Roma. You could walk from there about 10-15 minutes to Santa Lucia train station and get on a train to Verona from there. The first stop after Santa Lucia on the way to Verona will be Mestre train station. So you'd save a lot of time and 10-15 minutes walk by taking the ATVO bus from the airport to Mestre instead, as I suggested above.
Such a sad direction( I'd better walk this route and see the ordinary life of locals.
