Venice Accomodations Inexpensive

We are a group of older ladies with a limited budget, headed to Venice for a 70th birthday adventure in October. We are 6 and need a place to stay for 2 nights. We are on a tight budget. Any suggestions?
Your ideas will be appreciated.

Stephen beat me to it!
I stayed there a couple of years ago and was very comfortable. I think all the rooms are en suite. However, they don’t serve breakfast and they didn’t have shampoo in the shower.
There are a number of convents and monasteries that rent rooms in Venice. I recommend it.

If you check Booking.com you will find many nice 3 star hotels priced at 75 dollars per person a night. Without knowing your per person budget amount it is hard to suggest anything specific. You can find 2 stars, but I never recommend 2 star hotels.

This past October I stayed at Madonna dell'Orto rooms, which I found through monasterystays.com. I later realized that they have their own website for booking (see below). I paid 70 EUR per night. They have an elevator. Breakfast was included, simple bread rolls, pastries, cereal, fruit and yogurt. The fridge was stocked with bottled water (still and sparkling) for guests for free. The neighborhood is away from the tourist crowds and is very peaceful. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the Rialto bridge.
