Trastevere vs Monti

Hello! Trying to decide which neighborhood to stay in when we are in Rome. We are two twenty-something's who like to go out, but more to bars and not clubs. We don't mind walking and when we want to go to bed, we like quiet. It seems like there are pros to both neighborhoods....which do you recommend? And if you have a favorite place, please share!

We stayed in Trastevere this past Summer. Awesome area. We stayed on a a square about a block from Santa Maria Church. In the morning the square was a market and in the evening they showed movies. It was a very lively place. We walked through tons of restaurants when walking to & from the sights. It was about 2 blocks from the tram stop. & the tram was only 5 stops from Trastevere station which had easy access to FCO.

The Apartment was incredible at a very good price. I found it via the forum.

Can't comment on Monti but stayed in Trastevere at Arco dei Tolomei B&B and loved it. Right over the bridge from the island in the Tiber and convenient to everything. The neighborhood is just delightful. We had no problems with noise at night. There are reviews and pictures on Trip Advisor. Also, the owner, Marco and his wife are wonderful.

Hello, May 2015 we stayed in Monti neighborhood. Loved it. Close to wonderful restaurants, bars, Roman Forum and Colosseum. VBRO Listing #1027379ha. Very vibrant neighborhood. Easy to walk to most sights and near subway stop Cavour.
