Trastevere restaurant recommendations

Staying at Hotel San Francesco Trastevere in June. Would appreciate any and all non- tourist trap restaurant recommendations within a 20 minute walk. Thanks in advance,

When we were there for the beginning of our RE Best of Southern Italy tour (same hotel) we did the Eating Europe Trastevere food tour. It was great and you got app size samples from some of the local food establishments. Highly recommend especially if looking for a full dinner, a different night in a local restaurant.

Hi Ray,

Margie has a great recommendation to take the Eating Italy Twilight Trastevere Food Tour early in your trip. We have taken this tour in 2023 and it was an amazing experience. For specific restaurant recommendations, I have two, one is a bit more upscale and the other is a small local Trattoria.

Spirito DiVino is one of the first slow food restaurants in Italy. It is housed in an historic building that was once a synagogue and includes a wine cellar that is older than the Colosseum. The food there is spectacular and dining there is between 30-60 Euros per person. Because everything is fresh and in season, the menu changes with the season. Check out their website to learn more about the history and their role in shaping cuisine in Italy. They do take reservations.

Da Enzo is a small, local Trattoria that does not take reservations, so be prepared for a wait (even if you go early). They specialize in Roman cuisine and I would highly recommend trying fried artichokes here along with pasta. It is a small place with a very simple menu.
