three great Sienna restaurants

Spadaforte on il Campo We ate here on our first and last nights in Sienna, both times getting wonderful care from our waiter, Allesandro. He and the kitchen went to extra lengths to be sure we got everything exactly as we wanted it. From salads to chicken to one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten - it was all really nicely done. Allesandro was also attentive and very helpful with wine selection, introducing us to selections we’d never heard of that cost less than what we usually might have ordered. And his English made the whole experience easy and fun.

Ristorante Guidoricchio We've done a good bit of traveling, and have had some great dining moments, but this place stands out as maybe the best ever. Owner Ercole greeted with earnest warmth and honest joy, then took excellent personal care of us, the likes of which we'd never seen. We immediately knew why Rick Steves recommends this restaurant. I find wine and food pairing to be pretty pretentious sometimes, but Ercole really knows his stuff and served us delicious food both nights (had to come back to try the wild boar!) with perfect wines. Weeks later, we're still talking about the experience!

Ristorante Numero Unico Beautifully fresh, simply presented and absolutely delicious food, served by our charming and friendly Albanian waitress. We actually ordered another course, despite being pretty sated and satisfied, just for the taste and experience. Well worth it! Great location, nice wine choice, and not overpriced.

I would heartily agree with billgord's review of Ristorante Guidoricchio in Siena. My husband and I ate there twice in 2010. Beautiful surroundings, welcoming owner, and delicious food at reasonable prices. I highly recommend this restaurant.
