Spa-ish hotel in the Dolomites

My wife and I are planning to do a bike trip (this one) in the Dolomites in September and would like to tack on two or three nights at a nice hotel at the end of the trip (bike tour ends on Sept. 20, but we could do the slightly earlier one that ends on Sept. 11). We'll be staying in Dobbiaco and would like to get to the next place via public transportation.

I see a lot of rec's for Hotel Grones in Ortisei, but I think we might prefer to be up in the mountains instead of in a town. I've been looking through older posts here and have narrowed my list to:

Hotel Saltria

Hotel Icaro

Berghotel Zorzi (this seems to have a minimum stay, though)

Forestis

Hubertus

Tesitin

We're looking for a place to relax with some light hiking, a pool (can you swim outside in Sept.?), good food, wonderful views, and maybe a massage. We'd be willing to spend about $1,500 for three nights, so "very nice" but not "crazy luxurious nice." I'm completely unfamiliar with the area, so any help is appreciated! (As an aside, I work in a bookstore and whenever someone purchases a Rick Steves guide I tell them to visit the forum...you are all so helpful and knowledgable!)

Thanks Laurel! I actually had that on my list and accidentally left it off.

Am I correct that we will be able to get around via public transport (and not need to rent a car)?

I was also wondering if there's anyplace other than amazon to order your book. :)

Thanks again!

Hi Rinso. We never rent a car. Panorama is served by a chair lift from Compatsch so we use that while we are there, but we arrive by taxi. Sometimes we do the taxi from Bolzano or Ortisei, but we have (some years ago, mind you) also taken the bus to the Siusi base station and used the big blue gondolas to get to Compatsch where we get a taxi to the hotel. You might want to get a local taxi number from the hotel if you choose the latter option so you can arrange the cab while enroute.

As our book is self-published on Amazon, that is the only channel, sorry.
