We are staying in Sorrento for 3 nights in July. We are a family of 4 traveling (kids 12, 10). We are having a hard time finding a hotel, B&B or apartment to stay in. We are using public transit and plan to visit capri, amalfi coast while here. Suggestions please.
Thanks
As u are finding Sorrento is very popular in summer and holidays.
You might consider staying in nrby coastal towns north of sorrento on the bus route or hope for a cancellation.
Hotel del corso in sorrento is central and an average value. Keep trying for cancellations, it is worth it.
Best of luck.
I would suggest the Hotel Delfino. We had stayed in September 2013. About 20-30 minutes outside of town. They run Shuttle in and out of town a few times a day. Beautiful view of Capri. Has a very nice pool area. The best part is walking down to their grotto and swimming in the Med every day after a busy day of sight seeing. Food was very good. Service was excellent and friendly. The rooms were simple but comfortable. Make sure you get a SEA view . SPECTACULAR. We had a member of our travel party that was not convinced about being so far out of town. But it turned out to be our favorite hotel during our trip. Put it this way, a picture of Capri from the hotel is the screen saver on our devices. Good luck
We were there just last September, loved it , bigger than I thought and we picked a place up out of town, beautiful view, but without a car was a pain, everything was happening in town, streets full of people, mimes, all kinds of fun things going on and with a hotel shuttle they usually have limited time frames. My vote stay in town so you can walk everywhere, ferries to Capri, buses to Amalfi etc... If you put in apt in the Italy search bar you will see previous posts about places to stay in Sorrento.
Good luck, you will have a wonderful time, we also loved Positano..
Years ago we stayed at the Hotel LaTonnarella with our two children. It was amazing! It is about a 10 minute walk to town and its located up a hill from town but so worth the walk. the views are breathtaking. We had a junior suite with views from every room and a surprise bathroom down a cave like stairway. Shower had beautiful views of Mt. Vesuvius and the sea. They have a private beach at the bottom of a cliff and you can walk or take an elevator. The onsite restaurant was also wonderful with very good but inexpensive wine. The building is very historical and was a private villa in the past. Be sure to look for the inlaid wooden boxes they make in Sorrento. They make excellent gifts.
