Small Restaurants in Central Rome

My wife and I are going to Rome for 3 days next September. When we were in Barcelona a couple of years ago we found some small family owned restaurants (Maison d'Jesus was one) that we loved. We would like to find something similar in Rome. Did anybody eat at any in Central Rome? Our accommodations are close to Trevi Fountain and below Villa Borghese toward the Tiber River.

In 2019, we found 2 wonderful restaurants: La Carbonara (Monti), 215 via Panisperma; and Gandhi 2 Indian, 29 via Genova. La Carbonara is smallish and crowded with locals - reservations a must. Food & service excellent, especially the veal saltimbucco. It is a bit south & midway between Termini & Trevi. Gandhi 2 ( there are 2 of them - this one is where we ate ) didn't need reservations at that time. It is located about midway between Termini & Trevi and at the south end of via Genova. Also great food & service.
Also, our favorite gelato (150 flavors!) is Gelateria Della Parma at 19-23 via della Maddalena. There may be better gelaterias, but to our unsophisticated taste buds this one is fantastic. Since we are going this April and you in September, we do not mind plugging them.

We loved Colline Emiliane when we were in Rome this fall- very close to the Trevi Fountain, small and non touristy. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time. They specialize in the cuisine of Emilia-Romagna and I can highly recommend their tortellini in brodo. Armando al Pantheon is also very good but we had no luck getting a reservation this last time, alas.
