Al Fontanone in the Piazza Trilussa. The artichoke (carciofe?) ala Guidea was absolutely wonderful - like a blooming onion on steriods. We also had a good polenta dish with pork ribs. The Piazza Trilussa is near the Ponte Sisto, a pedestrian bridge across the Tiber. It's been years since we were there, but I still remember that meal.

While not an actual restaurant we had a great meal and evening at Barbara's. Find it at EatWith.com
It was quite the evening having dinner with people from all over the world.

Dar Poeta for pizza.

Popi Popi for just a fun neighborhood place with good Roman dishes and good pizza.

la Scala in Piazza della Scala for a bit more upscale dinner.

We enjoyed Trattoria da Lucia during our visit last summer. It's a little gem of a place, with a casual, non-pretentous atmosphere and simple food done extremely well. Great place to wind-down your day in that neighborhood.

Reservations may be necessary. I had trouble (as a solo traveler) just wandering into places in Trastevere and snagging a table. Definitely if there is a place you particularly want to eat at dinnertime, you should make a reservation.

We did an Eating Italy tour of Trastevere. Enoteca Ferrara - just off the piazza in front of the Church. Great for pasta and wine for dinner. Fatamorgana - this is THE place for gelato. Cannot be beat! Porchetta (take out only) - Antica Norcineria. For pastries - Pasticceria Trastevere on Via Natale del Grande 49. Step inside and just enjoy the colorful displays. Good luck choosing a pastry! My mouth is watering already with these memories.
