Rome's Da Vinci Airport Hotel Recommendations?

We are booked on an 8:05 am flight to London & onto CA. Oct 17, 2016.

On our last night in Italy, we would much rather stay and dine in Rome.

However, as per Rick Steves recommendation, we should get to the airport 2.5 hours before flight departure; or 5:35am. Ouch!

Thus, we would probably be more wise to spend our last night in Fiumicino at an Airport hotel near the Da Vincci Airport.

Can anyone give us a recommendation of a Rick Steves Type decent local Fiumicino airport hotel with dinner / breakfast restaurant and a "paid" 24 hour shuttle service to the airport. We are a party of 2 traveling together.

I understand the "free airport shuttle" is undependable at best, and takes an extra hour while making pick up stops along the way.

I've combed through Rick Steve's Rome & Italy 2016 books but cannot find any suggestions for a decent Airport Hotel with private shuttle service.

We prefer to avoid the big US type Hiltons or Best Westerns in favor of local owners and character. But maybe our last night we'll just have to deal with it.

Our travel dates is Oct. 17th, 2016

Your help and suggestions, as experienced world travelers, would be appreciated.

I can't provide a recommendation for a Rick Steves type hotel, but I did stay at the Hilton for our 6 am flight out of FCO. We stayed in Rome until after dinner and then went to the hotel. It's an easy 10 minute walk from the hotel to the terminal via an enclosed skyway. Food for thought in case you don't get any good choices.

Two weeks ago I had a 6:40 am flight out of Rome to Paris. I decided to stay my last night in Rome and hired private car to drive me to the airport at 4:30 am and it only costs 2 euros more than the standard cab fee. There was little to no wait to get through security and to my gate and I also got to enjoy my last night in Rome. I would recommend it. Enjoy Rome!

When on vacation, I'm not usually found in large corporate hotels but you cannot beat the convenience of the Hilton FCO if you have an early flight. It's a 5-10 minute walk to the ticket counter via an indoor walkway and after 17 days on the road I have to admit that top notch AC, fast internet and a King Bed felt pretty good. It has the added convenience of being connected to the FCO train station as well. I got a $99 rate by paying in advance. Hope this helps.

We have stayed at the Hilton FCO several times, perfect location, restaurants, nice rooms.

Because of your departure time, you might as well stay at the FCO Hilton. They won't be serving breakfast early enough, so you'll have to eat at the airport. But the hotel is 30 meters from an elevator that serves an elevated concourse with (sometimes working ... this is Italy) moving sidewalks that take you to all terminals. In other words, there's no bus or shuttle, you pull your (roller ?) bag all the way to the check-in desks. Especially with this lead time, you should be able to get something between $150 and $175, roughly. Obviously, off-airport would be cheaper, but that's not in your best interests, is it?

How close they are to the train from Termini, I don't remember. But the Avis/Budget drop off was closer to the Hilton than any of the terminals. Just stayed there last week.

We stayed at that Hilton on the night of our arrival. Very convenient, clean rooms, good service, etc. We easily walked to the train station the next morning.

We too had an early morning departure and opted to stay in our Rome hotel near the Cavour metro. We had the hotel front desk make arrangements for a car to the aiport in the morning--iirc, the driver picked us up at 5:15 am. It cost 48 Euro. I waffled on whether to stay in Rome or go back to the Hilton. I think it is six of one, half dozen of the other.

If this your first time to Rome and Italy, I would recommend the Hilton FCO. In fact we will be staying there in a few weeks on the final night of our trip; 7:00 AM flight on Turkish Air.
