Seeking hotel recommendations for a 3 day stay, pre-cruise mid-June. Prefer a hotel with restaurant and lounge, close to major cultural sites. Any recommendations appreciated.
Is budget a concern?
Regarding a budget, am OK with a maximum of $350 USD per day.
Over the years we have used three hotels - all in the Termini area. It is on the edge of the cultural sites -- solid hour walk to the Vatican. But this area is the hub of transportation for the city as the trams, buses, subway all swing by Termini -- the train station. We prefer Hotel Sonya across from the Opera house and about three blocks from Termini. A little further away is Hotel Aberdeen with a very nice restaurant behind them -- Target. And for one night stay we have used Hotel Contilla. One block south of the side door of Termini but across the street from a laundry self service. Handy if just pass through Rome.
Another reason for the Termini area is the train service to Civit...... the cruise port. You will want to take the train. Super easy and cheap.
We like IQ Roma, which is near the train station. We took a cab or walked to the sights. The restaurant was very good. Our room had great AC, and you can do laundry there as they have washers and dryers. (You pay in the machine like at a laundromat.). Enjoy your trip.
