Rome/Florence Hotels or lodging

Traveling in September (part of stay in Florence) and a couple days for Rome (flying in and out of) Need one night in Rome when we arrive and then 2 nights in Rome for when we fly home. Hoping for hotels that offer airport transportation.
And then for a 3 day/2night stay in Florence looking for hotels conveniently located for walking purposes.

Hello!  I can recommend the following hotels in both cities:

Rome:

Hotel Santa Maria -  in Trastevere (stayed in 2005) - Trastevere is a wonderful area of Rome across the Tiber from the main areas, although a bit far from Vatican City but definitely walkable in nice weather.  The hotel was amazing; it was a former convent and the rooms surround a courtyard with small tables/chairs and orange trees where they served a small happy hour each night and a wonderful breakfast.  Clean hotel and friendly employees!  They offer transfer to/from airport for a fee.  Here's the website: https://www.hotelsantamariatrastevere.it/index.php

Villa della Fontana Guesthouse - in Trastevere as well (stayed in 2018) - very small hotel (only 6 rooms I believe), close to the Hotel Santa Maria, with a wonderful breakfast and a rooftop terrace area with seating where you can bring a bottle of wine and unwind after a day of sightseeing.  Clean, friendly, and accommodating!  They also offer airport transfers for a fee.  website: http://www.villafonte.com/index.php

Florence:

Hotel Torre Guelfa - centrally located (Florence is easily walkable from anywhere) - wonderful old hotel with interior lounge and the tallest privately owned tower in Florence which you can climb.  The outside landings in the tower have tables/chairs and they have a wine bar upstairs as well. Wonderful breakfast, old world charm, friendly staff, clean!  Amazing views of the city. (stayed in 2005)  website: https://www.hoteltorreguelfa.com/

Enjoy your trip!  Italy is magical!

I liked Hotel Oceania in Rome - stayed there 3 days - they called a taxi
for me. It is near Rome Termini station and within walking distance to
the colosseum. Also Hotel Aberdeen is just down the street - it was a
very nice hotel as well.

In Florence, the Hotel Accademia was very convenient - walked everywhere!

Good Luck.

In early June, we stayed at Hotel il Bargellino in Florence; we found it in the Rick Steves Italy guidebook. We booked directly with the hotel, and it was an easy walk from the train station. We were able to book a room with a private bath and air con, and we would definitely stay there again. The owners Pino and Carmel, were wonderful and gracious. Carmel is originally from Boston so lack of fluency in Italian (on our part) was not an issue. We walked everywhere and never used public transportation (but it was readily available). We had drinks on the lovely terrace every night, and the restaurant across the street Osteria Vecchio Cancello is also on our list of places to eat again (reservations encouraged).

While we’re staying in an apartment after arriving in Rome this September, the night before getting out at the end, we’re staying close to Termini Station at the Unahotels Deco Roma hotel. You could catch the Leonardo Express train to (or from) the airport, from (or to) the hotel. Website is https://www.gruppouna.it/en/unahotels/unahotels-deco-roma

In Florence last summer I stayed at a lovely B&B in an old villa called IL Villino
Run by Barbara, who also bakes the breakfast cakes. She is lovely and speaks perfect English
My window had a view of the Duomo and it was easy walking nearly everywhere
