Rome: a wonderful, quiet place to stay in the heart of Rome

My husband and I spent a week in I Cedri a lovely Trasteverre apartment which we rented through vrbo (# 1174063) and were very pleased. Rome can be overwhelming sometimes as it is a big, noisy city but miraculously the apartment in Trasteverre was actually quiet! The windows and doors all double pane and the bedroom is at the rear of the apartment overlooking a patio where we would have an aperitif and/or dinner. The living/dining room was quiet and the bedroom was very quiet. I also want to mention that the air quality near the apartment was very good, something we noticed when we came home from Piazza Venezia. Oh, and it was always pretty easy to catch a tram or a bus when we wanted to go to the other side of the river. Iole was very responsive to our emails and was very helpful when we were there including explaining how everything worked, meeting us at the apartment and not only calling a taxi but waiting with us for the taxi when we left. She has decorated apartment in lovely warm tones with souvenirs of her travels. Very pretty, indeed. There were many good restaurants nearby as well as delis and even a supermarket within easy walking distance ( Iole gave us a list and directions). This is the 4th time we have stayed in Rome and by far the best place we've stayed.

Kay, thanks for the helpful details, like the quiet inner courtyard bedroom and patio. And the price isn't bad, either. It's not too far from where we stayed during our last trip to Rome (that's only available for a short period each year, as opposed to I Cedri), so we wouldn't have to relearn our surroundings all over again!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to write a review!

Eileen,
Glad to have been of assistance. Many people have been very helpful to me on this forum. It does feel a lot like a community. If you should stay at I Cedri, please mention me to Iole. I think that she thought that I forgot to write a review on vrbo. Can't blame her for thinking so as it took about 6 or 7 weeks for me to get to doing it! Anyway, I wanted to post a review on Rick's site as well. I know she works hard to make the apartment inviting. It's also personal for her as the apartment was her grandmother's. We really enjoyed staying there.

We just returned from a trip that included Rome and we too used VRBO (#1732113) which was just behind Piazza Navonna on a very quiet street but in a very exciting neighborhood...walk all the small streets. The Apt was 2 bedrooms with a living area, dining room and full kitchen with a washing machine. I know your not thinking about doing laundry probably but, it allows you to pack far more lightly! It also has good A/C which was nice because the end of June was very hot in Rome this year, near 100 on 2 days. Major bus route on the other side of PN, bus 81 will take you to the Vatican and going the other direction to the Coliseum/Forum, all for 1.5 euros. Pantheon is 5 minutes away, another 5 to the Trevi Fountain and another to the Spanish Steps (closed for renovation) You may want to take a look. Marco, the owner is very helpful.

Thanks, Keith - it's in The File ;-) It looks very cool and restful. When in Rome (no joking), it's always nice to use a washing machine; the last time I was in Rome the temperature was 100F in October! A/C is a must! And 'hi' to everyone in Big D - I miss it! But I don't miss the humidity :-(

Thanks to both of you!

Kay,

I Cedri sounds like the perfect place for us when we go to Rome next June. Thank you so much for sharing your review. The members of this forum provide so much good information!
