We stayed at the Residenza Il Villino two years ago and found it to be very nice. Giovanni, the owners son in law referred us to wonderful restaurants and even the best place to have shoes made. We're considering staying there again but just want to check on what Rick's latest recommendations are. Not sure if he has new guide books, ours our the Florence & Tuscany 2014 and the Florence Pocket addition from 2013.
Yes, Residenza Il Villino is still recommended in Rick's 2016 editions, available through bookstores and at https://store.ricksteves.com/shop/guidebooks/italy. Of course, your own positive experience is reason enough to return.
Laura, I like your answer. We may be "Rickniks," but that doesn't mean we blindly follow his recommendations. We use RS reviews as a starting point. Some of his hotels and restaurants we have loved, and gladly return to; others, not so much.
We stayed last year at the Hotel Scaletta. We found this the first trip through rick Steves but didn't see it since it changed owners and renovated. It has a great location for walking everywhere. A fabulous roof deck over looking the entire city and views of the Boboli Gardens. We highly recommend this Hotel.
