We are 2 active couples visiting Como, Venice, and Milan in late September and looking for restaurant recommendations where the locals eat. We enjoy casual environments where the food is authentic enough to attract the locals, not necessarily the tourists. Thanks in advance!

In Venice, Trattoria da Remigio has been that place for us. No website, just Facebook, although I see they now use Quandoo for reservations and reservations are a must.
In Milan, while not strictly a locals only place, Mamma Rosa Osteria is our go-to.
Are you going to Como town or somewhere else on the lake?

In Venice in the Rialto Bridge area consider Trattoria Da Marco Valla Fava on Calle Stagneri. It is definitely pricy so you might want to do lunch there rather than dinner. Some of the best sea food ever!! Try to eat inside rather than outside. The place has been around at least 50 years so they must be doing it right. Also in the Rialto area (on the other side of the Grand Canal) when walking to Piazzale Roma is an out of the way place named Pane Vino e San Daniele on Calle Dei Boteri. Definitely a local place, good food, good house wine, and not expensive at all.
If you go over to the island of Murano, try Ristorante dalla Mora on Fondamenta Daniel Manin. Lots of locals eat there and it is right on a picturesque canal.

Three years ago, staying in Venice for 10 nights, we enjoyed some lunch restaurants that our grandchildren call "worker guy" restaurants --- not really totally, but several tables were definitely full of people clearly on their lunch breaks from work.

As a mostly-vegetarian, I have also been fond of eating lunch at Osteria La Zucca in Santa Croce on every trip to Venice and plan to eat there again this December.

Highly recommend Nevodi, located in the Castello district in Venice. Probably my favorite meal in Venice. A close second was Cantina Azienda Agricola in the Cannaregio district.
Also Osteria Alla Frasca, also in Castello, off the beaten path in a quiet courtyard. Heard great things about it, had it on my list, but we didn't make it there.

We love this neighborhood. Stayed right across the street from this restaurant 3 times.

This is an off-the-beaten but not undiscovered by tourists place for lunch and we liked it. “Worker guys” indeed. As I recall, limited hours for hot food 12:00-14:00 or so.
