Restaurant in Cinque Terre (Vernazza preferably)

We will be in Cinque Terre in June celebrating our 27th anniversary (after our trip for our 25th was cancelled due to COVID) - I am looking for a really good restaurant. Good food and good people is more important than being fancy but all recommendations welcome. 🙂

Congratulations! Fond memories of celebrating our 37th anniversary in Cinque Terre a number of years ago. We were on a culinary tour and stayed in Monterosso al Mare. I can’t recommend a restaurant in Vernazza but I can in Levanto. Our Italian guides aunt lived in Levanto & recommended Zita’s. Nothing fancy, but the cuisine was wonderful. The pasta dishes & Tiramisu were the best we had on our “Taste of Tuscany Tour.”

The dining room at Hotel Porta Roca is excellent along with having beautiful ocean views. We stayed at the hotel and our meals there were the best of our month long trip to Italy. The hotel sits on a bluff on the south side of Monterosso.

We are not 'foodies', but we really enjoyed Il Belforte in Vernazza when we stayed there in Oct 2017. The sunset view was spectacular. (This restaurant is in the RS Italy Guide, but can't miss it as it's right over the water.)

We had dinner at Giani Franzi restaurant right on the plaza in the harbor and it was great and we stayed in their rooms which gave us a 50% discount on a bottle of their local wine.

We recently had lunch at Ristorante Bar Al Costello in Vernazza (went when they first opened) and sat overlooking the water. It is very high up and there were a lot of stairs to climb but it was a beautiful view. It wasn’t fancy but we had a delicious lunch and the staff were very nice. Also they now take credit cards.

Head to Miky or Cantina di Miky in Monterosso. We dined at Cantina di Miky a couple weeks ago and it was fantastic. Call or email ahead for a reservation for an outside table, but dining inside in the cellar would be fantastic too.

Miky is run by the patriarch of the family and appears on the RS episode of Cinque Terre. Cantina di Miky is slightly less fancy, but has still earned Michelin stars in the past and is run by the son and his wife. Mention RS when you make the booking, after we ate outside we wanted to look at the cellar and they invited us inside to take a look and gave us a sampling of limoncello and other local aperitifs.
