Restaurant around Roma Termini

Hey all,

We are looking for a quaint restaurant for a light brunch on a Sunday around Roma Termini. We are arriving around 10:00 and just want something light. Any suggestions?

Brunch is not really a concept in Italy. I would go upstairs to the “terrace” level at Termini and see if anything appeals to you..

There are a lot of restaurants across the street. Just find one that appeals to you.

Right in Termini, on the lower level I believe, is Mercato Centrale. it has a dozen or more food stalls, it would be great for what you want, but it does not open until noon.

I am afraid you will run into the problem that "brunch" simply is not a thing there, nor really is breakfast, at least for locals. I am afraid your best will be a cafe or coffee place, probably more centered on coffee and pastries, maybe a ready made sandwich. There may be a place in Termini or nearby advertising an American or British Breakfast, not quaint or local, but sustenance non-the-less.

Mercato Centrale is open from 7:30 to midnight, according to hours currently posted on their web site: https://www.mercatocentrale.it/roma/info/#orari

Of course, not all merchants may be open early in the morning. But you could stick your head in...

Also, it is on ground level on the Via Giovanni Giolitti side of the station - a bit of a walk down the tracks on the Leonardo Express side if going from inside the station.

The Mercato Centrale has a wider variety of more-interesting options than you might expect if you're thinking about mall food courts. It was extremely crowded the day I ventured there in February this year (don't remember the time, maybe mid-afternoon). I decided the environment didn't look Covid-safe, so I carried my food out of the interior market area to a less-crowded spot, but of course I had already been inside for at least ten minutes.
